What A Few Cups Of Coffee Taught Us About Compassion, Skill, Attentiveness, And Diligence

In May of 2022, we attended a training about brand awareness. The basic takeaway was this. Whatever you might think your brand is doesn’t matter if that’s not how your clients would define you. In other words, each of us already has a brand, even if we don’t know it. So, we sat down for cups of coffee with 15 of our closest client relationships. Among many others, we asked questions like, “What makes a good advisor in your mind?”, “In your eyes, what is most important about what we do?”, and “When you think of me, what is the first word that comes to mind?”. We even asked, “If there was something you could change about our service, what would that be?”. What we found interesting was that their answers had four common threads. Since then, our brand has been defined by those four common threads: Compassion, Skill, Diligence, and Attentiveness.
